Continuing my “best of” posts, here is a favorite from my time at the Art Institute: A movie poster for my art history class (with one of the greatest teachers ever, Karen Coker) of Nefertiti.

Working on an editorial assignment that I can’t share yet then heading out of town for a short trip, so Sketch of the Day is going to be a li’l different for the next li’l bit– Think of it as “best of’s…”
Or, in my case, best I can do…
But I will try to post stuff that hasn’t been used as a sketch of the day before. So to start this off, here’s my favorite painting I’ve ever done.

To finish out this week’s cover run, here is an alternate cover from the Perfect Storm: A New Ride one-shot Kickstarter, which is actually an update of the very first Perfect Storm cover from 2006!

A little something different this week: Many years ago now I attempted to write my first superhero comic called Pulse, based on a character I had doodled as a kid. Needless to say, since you’ve never heard of it, it went nowhere, and it’s probably a good thing because my scripts sucked. But what didn’t suck was the interior artwork, provided by Vittorio Garofoli, and the covers which were inked by comic legend Joe Rubinstein. This week I’ll be sharing those 4 covers…

One thing I’ve learned in life: A guy sitting behind his desk looking at your file is never a good thing…

Here is a fun one for today’s Sketch of the Day– Another recent book cover illustration!

Not much new to show for today’s Sketch of the Day, so here’s a piece from way back: Typhoid Mary from Baltimore comic-con 2010.

When this recent children’s book cover needed a yellow sports car, of course I drew a ’70 Dodge Charger, and subsequently had the Fall Guy theme song stuck in my head the rest of the day…

So sad to hear of the passing of Bernie Wrightson over the weekend. On my desk was an assignment just asking for a Wrightson approach, so today’s Sketch of the Day is my tribute to him.

Capping off another week with a Perfect Storm Friday update!!!
